It has been a while since I updated my blog because a lot of things have happened! Shinji and I have moved into our apartment, started work and have been sightseeing in Kyoto. To begin with here are some images of our apartment! The first photos are of our first dinner in the apartment or should i say room haha! I am so lucky to have Shinji because he is a good cook! We are the top floor of the green building you can see in the pictures. Below our house is a yakiyori (Japanese snack bar)! lucky us! Fuji-chan (Shinji’s Auntie) bought me some japanese cook books in English!! (too kind) Therefore I have been trying to make snacks for bento boxes so there are a few pictures of Shinji and I making ongiri (rice balls) and korokke (crumbed potato).
I have also started my job! I am working at an immersion english school. It is a really amazing place! Therefore I am teaching children English. The children range from 2-5, so it is a pre-school! The children speak amazing english for their age, it is incredible! On my first day I was blown away. All the children that go to this school speak Japanese at home. It really makes me realise how incredible kids are that they can absorb language so easy! Raising a bilingual baby must be pretty awesome! The staff are so friendly and kind I am really enjoying working there. I have been thinking that working with young children is going to be really inspiring for fulfilling my dream in being a children’s illustrator! Exciting times ahead! I posted a photo of me at work with the children! Japanese children are super cute, the all look like gorgeous wee dolls!
